Tiger on the prowl for more majors in 2019

Tiger Woods is eager to add to his impressive collection of majors in 2019 after hitting a purple patch of form in the latter half of this year.
The former world number one was in contention at Carnoustie at The Open Championship, finishing in T6 and backed that up with a solo second at the PGA Championship at Bellerive.
Woods then won his first piece of silverware since 2013 at the PGA Tour season finale TOUR Championship in September in front of an electric gallery at East Lake.
Looking ahead to 2019, the 42-year-old is buoyed by the major venues, where he has seen previous success. Apart from his four wins at Augusta, the US Open is being hosted at Pebble Beach – where he last won in 2000 by a record 15 strokes. And Bethpage Black hosts the PGA Championship, where Woods collected another of his US Open titles in 2002.
“The major venues for next year do excite me as I have won on three of the four,” the world number 13 told AFP.
“What I did in the last two major championships, I gave myself a chance to win both of them and I was right there.
“That’s ultimately what we want to have happen. Now it’s about trying to get everything to peak together like I did for those two weeks to do it again four more times. That’s the trick.
“As you look at anyone who’s ever played this game, that is the most difficult thing to do in this game. That’s why most people haven’t won a lot of major championships, because it’s so hard to do. Fortunately, I was able to do it 14 times and hopefully more in the future.”
Woods is set to tee off at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas – hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation – with 16 of the world’s top ranked golfers on Thursday.
