Ye enters the record books

Twelve-year-old Ye Wocheng on Wednesday became the youngest player to qualify for a European Tour event.

The Chinese amateur carded a two-round total of 142 at the Western China qualifier to earn himself a spot at the Volvo China Open in early May.

Ye betters the mark set by his compatriot Guan Tianlang who completed the feat aged 13.

After an opening 68 on Tuesday, Ye was seven-under as he took the turn on Wednesday but bogeys at the 11th and 14th suggested he may be feeling the pressure. The youngster regained his composure to birdie the 15th only to produce a triple-bogey at the next hole.

However, such had been his dominance early on, he could afford to still bogey the 18th and qualify in third, the last available spot.
