Yang triumphs in Thailand

Amy Yang claimed a two-shot victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand on Sunday, only the second LPGA title of her career.

Yang was able to steal the show with a final round three-under-par 69 at Siam Country Club to finish clear of American Stacy Lewis, who had held a share of the lead in each of the first three rounds.

Lewis could only post an even-par 72 on Sunday, and had to settle for a tie for second alongside former World No 1 Yani Tseng and Mirim Lee.

She still shared the lead with Yang heading to the 15th, but double-bogeyed the par-4 even as Yang birdied it.

“I don’t know what just happened,” Yang said after the win. “I still can’t believe I did it today.”

Tseng’s joint runner-up finish after a superb final-round 67 is her best showing since finishing in the same position at the 2014 Kingsmill Championship.
