WATCH: John Daly’s WILD pre-round warm-up that you have to see to believe

No one can argue the quality and impact of John Daly, whose performances have wowed alongside his unorthodox approach to the sport.

The 58-year-old has had a career most golfers could only dream of, his talents making him a double Major champion thanks to wins at the PGA Championship in 1991 and The Open in 1995.

His longevity has been admirable with five PGA Tour wins, the PGA Rookie of the Year and Comeback of the Year awards while still occasionally mixing it with the best.

Yet despite his inarguable success, Daly has often raised eyebrows with his tournament preparation and on-course antics.

It’s safe to say Daly doesn’t, and presumably never has, employed the traditional body, health and mind first approach of many successful players on tour.

However, the longtime pro’s approach has most definitely worked for him as his staggering pre-round warm-up continued to produce results…

The social media icon’s unconventional warm-up consisted of…

  • Hit range balls for 20 minutes (Though not always)
  • Putt a little bit
  • Smoke five cigarettes
  • Drink three Diet Cokes

At PGA Tour events, Daly would often be seen drinking Diet Coke and refuelling with Snickers bars in a diet that is certainly not stereotypical of a professional golfer.

The legendary American icon claimed that he once drank 13 cans of Diet Coke out on the course while competing for the 2007 PGA Championship when he shot an opening round of 67.

Alongside his golf which saw him ranked as high as 23rd in the world, Daly has also turned to music, a side-quest that resulted in him releasing three studio albums.

His colourful wardrobe, booming drives and untraditional demeanour have made him a fan favourite over his career with his authenticity earning him plaudits through the ups and downs.
