Fan favourite Joel Dahmen overturned a turbulent 2024 season with a clutch round of 64, saving his PGA Tour card for next year.

The American golfer, whose following grew after his cameo in Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’ series, has had a less-than-ideal 2024 and had to pull out some Sunday magic at the season-ending RSM classic.

With his outgoing personality and iconic, wide-brimmed hat, Dahmen is a staple on the tour. However, it looked as if his appearances would be limited in 2025.

He came into the weekend sat 124th in the FedExCup standings, just a single spot inside the top 125 required to guarantee a full card.

But a less-than-adequate Saturday round of 70 left him projected to miss the number required to secure his full playing privileges for next season.

The 37-year-old fired on Sunday, knowing everything was on the line. He shot a bogey-free six-under 64 to the delight of golf fans, wrapping up his card.

The remarkable turnaround started with a hole-out eagle from 110 yards on the par-4 13th hole.

The 64 – one of the rounds of the day – elevated Dahmen to tied 35th, enough to secure 124th for the season and, most importantly, that full tour card for 2025.

Following his heroics, Dahmen explained that he enjoyed the situation and how it panned out. “When you’re eight behind like this, it almost gives you a little bit of freedom that you have to do something great and can’t just hang out there.

“It’s almost harder sometimes to hang on like it’s harder to hold a lead, a big lead, a huge lead, than it kind of is to be a chaser. I think that somehow worked out in my favour,” he added.
