Trump hails Tiger’s form after sharing round of golf

U.S. President Donald Trump is predicting big things for Tiger Woods this year after sharing a round of golf with the former World No 1 and fellow all-time great Jack Nicklaus.

Over the weekend, Trump shared a picture of himself on the course with Woods and Nicklaus along with the caption, ‘Great morning at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida with @JackNicklaus and @TigerWoods!’

But while some were criticising Trump for taking more time off to spend on the golf course, and berating Woods and Nicklaus for daring to play golf with the president, Trump himself was more concerned with what he saw from Tiger.

“Everyone is asking how Tiger played yesterday. The answer is Great!” Trump wrote in a follow-up tweet.

“He was long, straight & putted fantastically well. He shot a 64. Tiger is back & will be winning Majors again! Not surprisingly, Jack also played really well. His putting is amazing! Jack & Tiger like each other.”

While it’s unlikely to win them any popularity contests, Woods and Nicklaus have long been friends with Trump, and they have not distanced themselves from the controversial leader since he became president.

When previously asked for his opinions on Trump’s stance on immigration and race relations, Woods simply said people should “respect” the president.

“He’s the President of the United States,” Woods told ASAP Sports back in 2018. “You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”
