Golfers know that some balls work for their game and that others just don’t.

For some of us, there are lingering bad memories of balls that were too hard or too soft.

There’s also an awareness that a ball can feel great off the driver but is an absolute shocker on and around the greens.

Finding that balance can be very difficult.

Back in the day one of the best ways to discover a ball you liked was nothing more or less than sheer good luck – you’d find a lost ball in the rough, give it a whack, then turn your nose up at it or suddenly decide you quite liked this one.

In the 21st century it has become far more sophisticated – and so have golfers.

We understand that a ball can be soft, offer great feel, but also fly a long, long way.

Others genuinely like a harder ball.

But it’s also the case that many of us don’t quite understand how to make the most of what brands have on offer.

Titleist recognise this and have launched a new golf ball fitting app designed to allow professionals to provide data-driven recommendations tailored to each player’s swing.

They input information from 12 shots—half-wedge, full-swing pitching wedge, 7-iron, and driver.

The app combines launch monitor metrics with golfer-specific information and it then processes the data through a proprietary algorithm built from thousands of previous fittings.

The result is a personalized Titleist golf ball recommendation in about 15 minutes.

It enhances both fitting accuracy and customer engagement.

Titleist explain that the tool can be used as a standalone fitting solution, a warm-up aid, or as a starting point for a full-bag fitting.

It makes it a strong asset for golf pros and retailers aiming to improve player performance and drive golf ball sales.

But there is also an option for players to seek a solution for themselves.

Go to the Titleist website, answer questions about the ball you currently use, how much golf you play, preferred trajectory, shot shape, your typical control, the feel you prefer, the key factor in your game, and favoured colour.

The selector will then provide you with a Titleist suggestion.

There is also an opportunity to have a virtual consultation with a Titleist expert to discover the ball for you.
