Three Players Who May Win Their Maiden Major In 2020

Two of the four Major Championships in 2019 were won by players who tasted success for the first time in golf’s biggest tournaments, as Gary Woodland was victorious in the US Open at Pebble Beach, while, more recently, Shane Lowry was the Champion Golfer of the Year following his victory in the Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
With the standard of the game increasing all the time, it would be no surprise if there were more first-time Major winners in 2020. Here is a look at three players who are close to having their maiden success – which could come next year on the Tour.

World number seven Jon Rahm is arguably the most likely of all the players who haven’t won a Major yet to do so in 2020. The Spaniard’s game is improving all the time so he looks certain to have multiple-success in the big four events. Rahm finished in the top 10 at Augusta for the second consecutive year back in April and it is very clear that his game suits Augusta. His best finish in a Major this year came at the US Open, where he finished in a tie for third place, while, more recently, he was tied for 11th at the Open Championship. Rahm can be backed at 19.5 at Betfair in the exchange betting for the 2020 US Masters.
Rickie Fowler
Rickie Fowler has been talked about as being a future Major winner for a good number of years now but it just goes to show how difficult these tournaments are to win. Fowler is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, where he has been one of the most consistent players over the last few years. He has tasted success in the Players Championship, generally considered the fifth unofficial major, which proved to be a breakthrough win for him, as detailed at the Players. The American finished in the top 10 of the US Masters and Open Championship this year. He has not missed a cut in a Major since the 2016 US Open, which is quite impressive. 2020 could be the year that Fowler finally ends his wait for one of the big four prizes.
Tommy Fleetwood

Englishman Tommy Fleetwood was one of the key players for Europe in their 2018 Ryder Cup success, where, as you can see from the results at Ryder Cup, he won four of his five matches. He has continued to prove he can compete with the world’s elite players in the big tournaments since the Ryder Cup. Fleetwood enjoys the challenges which the US Open and Open Championship present as his results indicate over the last few years. He was runner-up behind Brooks Koepka at the 2018 US Open, while, just last month, he was second at the Open Championship where he went into the Sunday in the final pairing with Lowry. The 28-year-old has won four European Tour events but bigger successes are likely to come over the next few years – on both sides of the Atlantic.
The 2020 US Masters is the next opportunity for the world’s best players to win a Major and that begins on April 9.
