The PGA Championship is heading to Texas

Texas will host two PGA Championships and the PGA of America has confirmed its move to the Lone Star state.

The 600 acre mixed-use development in Frisco will feature a 500-room resort, conference centre, clubhouse, office space and two new golf courses that will host the PGA Championship. The new course will host the PGA in 2027 and 2034.

“Our move to Frisco will be transcendent for the PGA of America,” said CEO of the PGA of America Seth Waugh in a statement.

“Everything great starts with a dream. This is the beginning of a bold, new journey as we bring together world-class partners in a world-class location – to deliver innovative and differentiated experiences for our nearly 29 000 PGA Golf Professionals, golfers of all abilities and our staff.”

Texas last hosted the final major of the year back in 1968 in San Antonio. The two new courses in Frisco are scheduled to open in 2022.
