Stricker confirmed for Match Play

Steve Stricker will play in the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship after all as his brother has undergone a successful operation.
The world number 12 admitted last week that his chances of playing in Arizona are “a long shot” as his brother Scott was “walking a tightrope” as he required a liver transplant.
The 50-year-old Scott, though, underwent a successful 10-hour operation in Wisconsin late on Friday evening, meaning he is now available to play at Dove Mountain’s Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.
“It went way better than they expected,” Stricker said. “It’s still going to be tough. He got through the hard part.”
He added: “It’s been crazy, but I’m going to come play since he’s doing so well.”
The American has been drawn in the Bobby Jones division and will face South African George Coetzee in Wednesday’s first round while world number three Henrik Stenson, Jason Day and Brandt Snedeker.
