Scott relishing Spieth challenge

Adam Scott is looking forward to facing Jordan Spieth at the Australian Open this weekend.

Scott will be eager to improve his performance in 2014, while the world number one will be aiming to defend his title he won in such fine style last year with a closing 63.

The Australian only managed to finish in fourth place, nine shots off the pace set by the American superstar. However, Scott and bagman Steve Williams are ready for action at the Australian Golf Club in Sydney, and you can get betting tips for the upcoming tournament.

“I’m very fired up to win the Australian Open this week,” quipped the world number 12 in the Canberra Times.

“It’s got a big feel about it to me. I’ve been building it up in my own mind, just knowing Jordan is coming back to defend. Steve is certainly treating this week just like I’ve spoken of, this is our major this week and we’re going to treat it accordingly. We’re here on a mission.”

Scott added that he would really enjoy it if he and Spieth could be leading on the final day and square-off in a battle on Sunday afternoon.

“I’d love nothing more than that,” continued the 35-year-old.

“I’d love to be right there with Jordan on Sunday and going head to head seeing what I can do and getting back in that kind of mindset.

“If you get a chance to play against the best and win, that’s a big deal and even more special to win your national championship. So for me this has been a focus of mine for the last couple of months since the US season finished and hopefully I’m coming into the right type of form.”
