Scott makes it two from two

Adam Scott secured his second win in the space of two weeks after successfully defending his Australian Masters title.
Leading by four shots overnight, last week’s Australian PGA champion was expected to coast home at Royal Melbourne on Sunday, but he would face stern challenges from Fiji’s Vijay Singh and American Matt Kuchar before securing the win.
Singh applied some early pressure on the Aussie before a near-disastrous three-shot swing, as Kuchar birdies the 15th and Scott double-bogeyed the 14th, saw Kuchar take a two-shot lead.
But Scott recovered to birdie the 15th as Kuchar bogeyed the 16th to level the scores.
From there, three pars for a final-round 71 and 14 under par total would see Scott claim a two-shot win, with a double bogey at the 72nd hole ending Kuchar’s (68) hopes.
Singh (71) finished third on 10 under.
With the World Cup of Golf to come this week at the same venue, Scott will then head to Sydney for the Australian Open in December looking to match Robert Allenby’s 2005 effort when he won the Australian PGA, Masters and Open in the same year.
