Schwartzel set for Perth return

Charl Schwartzel has confirmed that he will participate in the Perth International this year, which takes place from October 23-26.

The former Masters Champion took part in the event during its inauguration in 2012 but disappointingly missed the cut.

He returns to Western Australia next month in good form having successfully defended his Dunhill Championship title for the second time and secured top 10 finishes at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, WGC-Cadillac Championship, Open Championship and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational thereafter.

“I really enjoyed my experience in Perth two years ago but having played the course and experienced the conditions I’m looking forward to a strong finish at the tournament in October,” the nine-time winner on the European Tour told its official website.

“I’m playing well this year but am hungry for a win after a few close calls and I’m looking forward to returning to Perth.”

The South African is the third major winner to be confirmed in the field for this year’s event at Lake Karrinyup Country Club, after Jason Dufner (2013 US PGA Championship) and Geoff Ogilvy (2006 US Open Championship) confirmed their participation earlier.

The field will also include local favourite Wade Ormsby, defending champion Jin Jeong, five-time European Tour winner Brett and Victor Dubuisson.
