Rory confirms Shanghai participation

Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation in the WGC-HSBC Champions, which takes place in Shanghai from November 6 to 9.
With the world number one confirming that he will take part in the final WGC event of the year, the top five in the world will all be present at the Shanghai Sheshan International Golf Club.
The other four are Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose.
“I have had an amazing summer and I want to keep the momentum going into the final tournaments of the year,” McIlroy, who won two majors and regained the world number one ranking in what was a stellar 2014 season on the PGA Tour, said.
“I’ve never finished outside the top six so I know the Sheshan course suits my game and I have a great chance if I keep playing well.”
The two other major winners this year – Masters champion Bubba Watson and US Open winner Martin Kaymer – will also participate.
China is the only country outside the United States that hosts a WGC event.
“We have made a lot of progress growing the game of golf in China over the last decade,” vice president of China Golf Association Li Dacheng said.
