Rain delays Wentworth start

The start of the third round of the BMW PGA Championship was delayed by at least three hours on Saturday following heavy overnight rain.

Greenkeeping staff needed more time to prepare the course after heavy downpours left parts of the West Course under water.

Further rain has also been forecast, though play did get finally get under way on Saturday morning.

To make up for lost time, the 74 players who made the cut were assembled in groups of three rather than two, with joint leaders Thomas Bjorn and Shane Lowry joined by Spain’s Rafael Cabrera-Bello and due out at 2.15pm.
