Rahm out in front at Dell Championship

Jon Rahm came home hot at the Dell Technologies Championship on Saturday, birdieing five of his last eight holes to shoot a five-under par 66 and lead by two strokes.

Rahm, who began his round on the back nine, was two over after seven holes after a bogey, a birdie and a double bogey. He started to pull things round with an eagle at the par-5 18th before a bogey-free five-under 31 on his last nine holes saw him rise to the top of the leaderboard.

The 22-year old Rahm finished the day on nine under, two ahead of a group of four players including Americans Kyle Stanley (68), Kevin Streelman, Canada’s Adam Hadwin and Englishman Paul Casey, who all shot 65s.

Open champion Jordan Spieth enjoyed seven birdies in a 65 to finish four shots back.

Overnight leader and world number one Dustin Johnson had two double bogeys in a round of 72 to end the day five shots adrift on four under par.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy missed the cut by one shot after a three-over 74 saw him finish at four over par.

There were also two aces on Saturday, with Grayson Murray holing out at the eighth while Lucas Glover made a second hole-in-one at the 16th just minutes later.

The top 70 players after the final round will advance to the penultimate event in this year’s FedEx Cup series – the BMW Championship.
