Pod’s swing better, but not quite there

Even though he has ended his 2-year winless streak, Padraig Harrington plans to put in more work on his swing.

Even though he ended his 2-year winless streak at the Asian Tour’s Iskandar Johor Open on Sunday, Padraig Harrington plans to put in a lot more work on his swing.

The Irishman star eased to a three-shot victory in Malaysia to pick up his first silverware since he edged out Sergio Garcia at the PGA Championship in 2008 and even though his victory lifted the three-time major champion back into the world’s top 20, he made it clear in an interview afterwards that he was still not entirely happy with his swing.

“I’m am optimistic with it,” he added. “I’m coming close to it. It’s a question of putting it together. I have everything I want and I do it some days.”

He left it unsaid but his message was clear. He is still not consistent enough.

On his first win in two seasons, Harrington observed: “It’s been a while. Two years is a long time, especially when you’re reminded (about not winning)every week that you play.

“It’s nice and very important for me to go and win. Winning is a habit so it’s another good reason to keep winning and get back on track.”
