Palmer co-leads Honda Classic

Ryan Palmer is the co-leader of the Honda Classic after backing up his first round score of 66 with a solid 65 on Friday.

The Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens isn’t an overly generous one when it comes to providing players with scoring opportunities.

However, Palmer, whose wife was diagnosed with breast cancer last July, is having no problems carding birdies this week.

In just two rounds, he has already amassed 13 gains, seven of which came on Friday.

While he was frustrated by two needless dropped shots, Palmer admitted Friday’s round was extremely satisfying but added that golf means little in comparison to the ever-improving health of his wife.

"It's nice to finally get some good golf, some good results,” the Texan told Golf Channel.

“I put the work in and finally seeing some putts go in the hole.

“She's[his wife] five radiations away from being done with all that.

“Things are clear and she's doing awesome.”

Palmer is joined by Wesley Bryan at the top of the leader board on nine-under-par.

One shot off the pace is Rickie Fowler.

Among many notables to miss the cut are Ernie Els, Danny Willett, Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas.
