Organisers delay ticketing process for 2021 Masters as another fan shutout looms
The ticketing process for the 2021 Masters has been delayed as organisers consider their options for allowing back fans amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to an ESPN report, Augusta National Golf Club notified patrons of the delay via an email sent on Tuesday.
“As planning continues on how to stage the 2021 Masters Tournament safely and responsibly, we would like to inform you that Augusta National is delaying the ticket process for Patron Series Badges, which traditionally begins Jan. 1,” the club wrote in the email.
“Our intention is to communicate our decisions for the 2021 Masters to all patrons of record by the end of January. No further action is needed with your account at this time.”
The Masters is traditionally held in April but was moved to November of this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and took place without any spectators in attendance.
Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley previously said a decision on spectators in 2021 would be made based on the best information possible.
“We would need to see objective data that would give us a high level of confidence that we could bring large numbers of people onto the grounds for April,” Ridley said.
