Nordqvist in position for Shoprite treble

Anna Nordqvist is eyeing a hat-trick of wins at the Shoprite LPGA Classic after taking an opening round lead in New Jersey.
Nordqvist has won the tournament in each of the last two years and moved straight to the top of the leaderboard with a seven-under-par 64.
The Swedish player enjoyed a purple patch of seven birdies in nine holes, with only two bogey blemishes on her card.

“Starting with birdie, birdie, birdie obviously was a great feeling this morning,” said Nordqvist.
“I hit some really good shots, so I was just happy to get it going early and make the turn a couple under and then just keep it going from there.
“It’s just a place I really enjoy and it makes me happy to come back.
“I feel like I enjoy this place, but at the same time, I don’t feel like I have anything to prove here.”
Moriya Jutanugarn is leading the pack chasing Nordqvist after a bogey free 65 saw her move into joint second alongside Jennifer Song, Jenny Shin, and Jeong Eun Lee.
Paula Creamer, In-Kyung Kim, and Pornanong Phatlum are all a shot further back at five under.
