Phil Mickelson has been handed a late entry into the Scottish Open as he looks to arrest a horror run of form.
Phil Mickelson has been handed a late entry into the Scottish Open as he looks to arrest a horror run of form.
The American missed the cut on Friday at the Greenbrier Classic, a result that comes on the back of another missed cut at the US Open and a withdrawal at the Memorial.
Having shot back-to-back 71’s at the Greenbrier Classic, Mickelson has now failed to break par in seven consecutive rounds, a career worst.
In an effort to get his game on track ahead of The Open on July 19, the left-hander will take part in the Scottish Open next week after being handed the final sponsor’s invitation.
“I really have been off,” admitted the three-time Masters champion. “I don’t know what to say about that.
“The parts don’t feel that far off, but I haven’t been putting them together.
“It doesn’t feel bad off the tee, it doesn’t feel bad with the iron play, it doesn’t feel bad chipping or putting, but I’m making a lot of loose drives here or there, some loose iron shots here or there, missing some short putts here or there.”
