McIlroy set for practice round

Rory McIlroy is set to play a practice round in the lead up to the final major of the year, the PGA Championship.
According to a Reuters report, the Northern Irishman has a practice round scheduled for this coming Saturday on the Whistling Straits course in Wisconsin.
The four-time major winner was forced to abandon his title defences at The Open Championship and this week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational due to an ankle injury he sustained while playing football with his friends in July.
Despite the 26-year-old’s absence through these events, he has managed to hold on to his world number one ranking.
McIlroy fared well the last time the PGA Championship was played at Whistling Straits, missing a three-man playoff by just one stroke in 2010.
While he has not yet confirmed his appearance at the major, which tees off on August 13, he is still ranked as second favourite behind the indomitable Jordan Spieth.
