McIlroy and Spieth in power pairing

Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth will be paired together at this week’s Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
The PGA Tour event, hosted at Point Vedra Beach in Florida, will feature the world’s top two golfers in the same paring for the opening two rounds at the 42nd edition of the event.
The dynamic duo will be joined by world number seven, Australia’s Jason Day.
All three payers in this power group have won this year. McIlroy extended his lead at the top of the world rankings with his WGC-Cadillac Match Play win on Sunday, while Spieth is the reigning Masters champion. Meanwhile, Day won the Farmers Insurance Open in February.
Another featured group includes Tiger Woods, Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer. The German is yet to find the form that saw him capture his second Major at the US Open last year, but could be a force to be reckoned with as he is the defending champion at the Players.
Adam Scott is a former number one and has also been flying under the radar of late, with his last win coming at Colonial almost 12 months ago.
Finally, fans will be eager to see how Woods fares on the challenging TPC Sawgrass course after showing glimpses of his old self at Augusta.
