McDowell: I’ll be fine for Augusta

Graeme McDowell says a recent injury scare will not prevent him from playing at the Masters next week.
The 35-year-old was forced to withdraw from last week’s Valero Texas Open with an ankle injury after playing just nine holes of his first round.
That raised fears over his participation in the Masters next week, but McDowell took to Twitter to assure his fans that he would not be missing out on Augusta.
“Thanks for asking about the leg guys. I think a few days rest and I will be fine. Small strain,” he tweeted.
McDowell doesn’t have the best of records at the Masters, having failed to make the cut on five out of seven occasions, but he does have a 12th place in the tournament, achieved back in 2012.
The Northern Irishman is also short of form at the moment, having failed to make the weekend at both the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Honda Classic.
But he’ll be hopeful of bouncing back when he joins an elite field for the first round of the year’s first major next Thursday.
