Madeira cut to 36 holes

The Madeira Islands Open will now be contested over 36 holes for the second year in succession following more bad weather at Santo da Serra.

After heavy rain and a flooded course again held up the first round, the decision was made with a view to Sunday’s weather forecast.

Once the field have completed their first rounds, the top 65 and ties will make the cut and return for the final round, which will be a shotgun start on Sunday at 08.00 (local time).

Joachim B Hansen is currently leading the way with a four under par 68, with a large group of players bunching up behind the Dane at three under par.
