The 7 lowest Travelers Championship scores – can Scottie Scheffler defend his crown?

The Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands has seen some incredible feats of scoring since its rebrand in 2007.

It’s been a showground in Connecticut with elite players going deep into the red numbers on their scorecard and an opportunity to get ‘W’ after the mental grind of the US Open for Major champions to emerging PGA Tour talent alike.

The course in Hartford will be a welcome change from the ultra-tough bogey-fest that we’ve seen at the Oakmont Country Club, where JJ Spaun claimed victory in the 2025 US Open with a score of just one-under-par.

Golf365 have compiled the seven lowest 72-hole scores in Travelers Championship history.

Let’s dive in and see who’s thrived at TPC River Highlands…

7. Stewart Cink – 2008 (-18)

Veteran American Stewart Cink claimed his second win of the 2008 PGA Tour season with a hard-fought score of -18, helping him on his way to a record 262 at the time.

His course management and bullet-like precision were key in helping him get over the line while holding off the imposing, heavily American field who were right on his tail all weekend.

5= Dustin Johnson – 2020 (-19)

2020 was a simply staggering year for Dustin Johnson, who backed up his Masters win at Augusta National with another display of free-flowing scoring in Connecticut.

His sheer power and ball-striking ability helped him topple Kevin Streelman by just one stroke in a COVID-hit Travelers Championship with no fans present at the popular golfing event.

The win was part of a dominant stretch that climaxed with a FedExCup title later that season.

5= Xander Schauffele – 2022 (-19)

Years before Schauffele’s double Major-winning 2024 season, he showed his elite potential, backing up his 2020 Olympic Gold Medal with a thrilling display of scoring to card a 261 at the Travelers Championship in 2022.

He produced a composed final-round 68 to keep two strokes ahead of challengers J.T. Poston and Sahith Theegala and secure a memorable sixth PGA Tour crown.

4. Freddie Jacobson – 2011 (-20)

Jacobson’s solo PGA Tour title was won in suitable style with the Swedish player shooting 260 to reach an admirable -20 in Hartford.

Precision in his approach shots and a high putt percentage were key in Jacobson going so low, as he ground out a one-stroke victory that was a career-defining moment for the popular champion in 2011.

2= Kenny Perry – 2009 (-22)

Despite never winning a Major tournament, Perry was highly regarded on the PGA Tour for his longevity, with the 2009 Travelers Championship the last of his impressive 14 PGA Tour titles.

He displayed his trademark ball-striking and shaped the ball effortlessly for his 258 and was rarely troubled in his dominant three-stroke, -20 victory at TPC River Highlands.

2= Scottie Scheffler – 2024 (-22)

Scheffler’s 2024 season was truly mesmerising as he won a Green Jacket and seven PGA Tour events, including the Travelers Championship.

However, he needed extra holes to secure the 2024 title as he got the edge in a playoff over Tom Kim to prove why he’s the most dominant player on the circuit with his ability to rarely make mistakes and mount persistent pressure.

1. Keegan Bradley – 2023 (-23)

Keegan Bradley has the record for the lowest winning Travelers Championship score with his 23-under-par 257, rewriting the record books.

He found the perfect balance of long hitting and touch on the greens to hold off the field and seal victory with a closing round 68.

It was a huge career win for Bradley on home soil.
