Leishman seals wire-to-wire BMW win
Marc Leishman wrapped up a wire-to-wire win at the BMW Championship on Sunday, carding a final-round 67 for a total of 23 under par and a five-shot victory over Justin Rose and Rickie Fowler.
The 33-year-old withstood a late challenge from Rose to seal a second PGA Tour win this season and put himself well in the mix for the bumper $10million FedEx Cup prize on offer next weekend.
Rose, who shot a six-under-par 65, got to within two shots of the Australian on the back nine before consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th from Leishman saw him pull away.
The win also helped him to erase the memory of his final-round collapse at the recent Dell Technologies Championship, when a disastrous back nine saw the title slip from his grasp.
“There was probably a few little scars from two weeks ago at the Dell,” Leishman said.
“I was really, really determined to not let that happen again and give myself a big enough buffer that I could get it done. Yeah, I got it done.”
