Lehman to miss Open Championship

Former champion Tom Lehman has withdrawn from this year’s Open Championship, which takes place at Hoylake later this month.

Lehman won his only major title in 1996 when he lifted the Claret Jug at Royal Lytham and St. Annes.

The 55-year-old won on the Champions Tour last month and is planning on playing in the US Senior Open at Oak Tree next week, but will take a break from golf thereafter with a summer vacation with his family.

Lehman is currently seventh in the Schwab Cup after claiming the Encompass Championship title a fortnight ago.

Last week, he tied for 20th in the Senior Players Championship.
