Kids ‘take over’ at QHotels golf resorts

Following the launch of a three-year national partnership with the NSPCC earlier this year, QHotels is inviting children to ‘take over’ at its golf resorts as the group looks to raise £300,000 for the charity.
The leading hotel brand, the UK’s largest golf resort operator, first introduced its enterprising ‘kids in charge’ initiative across its hotels this summer and has now extended the fun scheme to its golfing venues across England and Scotland.
As part of the agreement with the NSPCC, youngsters are being offered the chance to help run QHotels’ resorts and golf courses for the day, including greeting guests on reception and in the pro shop, making beds and stirring up a storm in the kitchen.
The hotel and golf resort takeover is the first of a series of initiatives that QHotels will be staging to bring guests and employees together at its golfing venues and across the UK to support the charity.
Over the next three years, the group’s 10 golf resorts – including the likes of Slaley Hall in Hexham, Northumberland and Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort in north Lincolnshire – will host a number of fun and creative fundraising events, offering up different ways to get involved – from family activities to sporting challenges.
John Angus, group director of golf for QHotels, said: “Welcoming so many families to our golf resorts each year meant that supporting the NSPCC was such a natural fit for QHotels, and what better way to mark the partnership than by letting children take over!
“It’s wonderful to be able to give guests and employees the opportunity to be part of such an important cause and we hope children and adults alike will enjoy the many activities that we have to offer.”
QHotels is giving customers the chance to support the campaign, with the option to make a donation to the NSPCC with every online booking.
As well as fundraising, the hotel group is also saying thank you to staff and volunteers of the charity, with free membership to its Breakaway Club, which offers benefits including short-break vouchers, special experiences such as complimentary afternoon tea, a bottle of wine or a late check-out.
Nigel Spencer, acting director of fundraising at NSPCC, said: “I am delighted that QHotels has joined our fight for every childhood. This partnership will play a key role in keeping children safe and we are very excited to start working with QHotels’ employees and guests.”
Named AA Hotel Group of the Year in 2014/15, QHotels features a host of prestigious venues in its portfolio including Slaley Hall, Forest Pines, Belton Woods and Mottram Hall.
The multi-award-winning four-star golf group offers tournament and championship-standard courses in 10 unique resort locations across England and Scotland.
