Jimenez: I’d love to captain Europe

European Tour veteran Miguel Angel Jimenez says he would “love” to captain the European Ryder Cup side at Hazeltine in 2016.
The Spaniard has twice served as a vice-captain, including this past September at Gleneagles, and has made four appearances in the competition as a player.
Considering that impressive pedigree, Jimenez believes he’s ready to take on the captaincy role.
“I would love to be captain,” he said ahead of this week’s Hong Kong Open. “That is something that every player who competes in the Ryder Cup wants to do.
“I will put my name out there and hope the committee decides that it’s going to be myself.”
A panel of five – former captains Paul McGinley, Jose Maria Olazabal and Colin Montgomerie as well as England’s David Howell and Chief Executive of the European Tour George O’Grady, are tasked with deciding who the next captain will be.
They are expected to make a decision early next year.
