Jimenez confirms participation

Miguel Angel Jimenez confirmed that he will compete in the Omega European Masters again this year.

The Spaniard will appear in the event for the 26th consecutive year, and will be one of the favourites to win the title for a second time when this year’s event at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland starts on September 4.

The 50-year-old made his debut at the event on the Haut-Plateau in 1989 when several of the players in this year’s field weren’t born yet.

Jimenez extended his record as the oldest player to win a tournament on the European Tour when he won on home soil at the Open de España last month.

He set the previous record at the 2014 Hong Kong Open at the age of 49 years and 337 days.
