Golf Pride launch 007-themed golf grip kit in homage to James Bond’s match with Goldfinger
“Strict Rules of Golf, Mr. Bond?”
They are probably the best-known golf-related words in cinema.
They were uttered by the dangerous Goldfinger in the James Bond movie of the same name, released exactly 60 years ago.
It was a spectacular match, filmed at Stoke Park near London, and featured a famous piece of golfing cunning from 007 who reacted to Goldfinger’s cheating by setting him up for defeat.
Six decades on, Golf Pride, the industry leader in innovation and golf performance equipment, has partnered with EON Productions to create a limited edition 007-themed golf grip kit.
Paying homage to the 1964 film, the kit includes 14 custom grips and a specially crafted gold bar collector display.
Golf Pride has applied design and material innovation to build the base performance for this product, before tackling the challenge of bringing to life a grip that embodies one of cinema’s greatest characters.
Impeccable style
The tuxedo inspired grip represents the best of Bond. It is a tribute to the character’s impeccable style and refinement through the decades.
A 007 embossed surface pattern, with lapels from the Goldfinger era, merges seamlessly with a diamond quilted design, evoking the white dress shirt of a modern secret agent.
A black grosgrain bow tie and gold accents complete the look, mirroring the suave style of GoldenEye.
“While we’re a performance equipment brand at heart, and this grip certainly carries the innovative and high-quality hallmarks of Golf Pride, we really wanted to have fun with this one,” said James Ledford, President of Golf Pride.
Earlier this summer Golf Pride launched a collaboration with the basketball star Stephen Curry. Ledford said: “Whether it’s partnering with a legendary film franchise like James Bond, or a global sports icon like Stephen Curry, we want to offer golfers unique ways to connect to the game through their passions.”
Ideal for anyone wanting to find their inner James Bond on the course, the kit retails for £189 and will be available for pre-sale on 007Store.com beginning October 1st.
The case is being displayed at The 007, Burlington Arcade, London until December 31, 2024.
