Germany selects Ryder Cup course

Germany has chosen the Bad Saarow golf course near Berlin in its bid to stage golf’s Ryder Cup for the first time.

The links-style Nick Faldo course was chosen on Wednesday over Gross Kienitz, another course in the state of Brandenburg.

It is situated some 70 kilometres southeast of the capital.

Germany is bidding to host the 2022 Ryder Cup and is running against Italy, Spain, Portugal and Austria.

Bid documents have to be submitted by the end of April. The host nation will be chosen in the autumn.
