Forest Pines set to thrill after £100,000 upgrade

Golfers are guaranteed a memorable climax to their rounds at Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort this summer following the completion of a major £100,000 upgrade of its final hole.
The leading north Lincolnshire venue – part of QHotels, the UK’s largest golf resort operator – began work reconstructing the area on and around the green of the 456-yard par-four hole, the ninth hole of the Pines Course, this spring.
A key part of the improvement programme involved reshaping and relining the pond on the left-hand side of the green, moving the hazard into a more prominent position and bringing it more into play for approach shots.
In addition, a new aeration fountain and drainage was installed to improve the all-year round condition of surfaces, while the front-right of the green and surrounding area was remodelled and returfed to allow several new pin positions to be introduced.
Andrew Cameron, director of golf at Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort, said: “Forest Pines is regarded as one of the best golfing experiences in the north of England. We wanted to create a finishing hole that lives long in the memory and we’re confident that we’ve done that with the changes that have been made.
“Reshaping the pond and making it more visible will give golfers plenty to think about when playing their approach shots, especially for a pin positioned on the left-hand side, while the work completed to the right of the green will help us maximise the full potential of what is now a great final hole.”
Selected by The R&A for host venue for the 2013 Boys Home Internationals, Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort offers 27 superb holes of golf, which meander through majestic pines in three loops of nine – and it is as challenging as it is beautiful. Located a short distance from junction four of the M180 and nestled in 190 acres of beautiful woodland, its position makes it an ideal club for golfers in north Lincolnshire and Humberside.
Named AA Hotel Group of the Year in 2014/15, QHotels offers tournament and championship-standard courses in 10 unique resort locations across England and Scotland.
