Fleetwood styles it out with TrendyGolf for Wentworth

European No 1 Tommy Fleetwood will tee it up at BMW PGA Championship this week in Nike outfits chosen by online fashion retailer TrendyGolf.com.

Fleetwood met with TrendyGolf at Sandiway Golf Club, in Cheshire, after he opted to call upon the retailer’s fashion experts to plan his outfits for the European Tour’s flagship event.

The process was documented in a short film, in which Fleetwood talks of his passion for modern golf fashion but also discusses his love of the history of the sport – even playing with hickory clubs in his time away from the European Tour.

Fleetwood said: “I don’t necessarily agree with traditional clothes. I think you should progress. But I do like the history of the game and I like playing with hickory clubs.

“When I come home now, I pretty much put my clubs away and play with hickories.”

But when it comes to clothing, Fleetwood prefers to break from tradition, after catching the attention by wearing ‘joggers’ at last year’s event.

He said: “Basically, anything that’s not traditional I seem to be getting on with. You’re carrying style and streetwear into golf now, I think now is a very cool time to do it.

“I love getting scripted and TrendyGolf did such a great job last year. I love working with the guys, I love trying on what they give me and I’d love to do it more often.”

TrendyGolf founder Ian McLeod said: “It was great to work with Tommy again and to select his outfits for the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

“He is a golfer who buys into the TrendyGolf ethos and likes to push the fashion boundaries as much as we do.”
