Fitzpatrick to turn pro

Sheffield golfer Matt Fitzpatrick has decided to turn professional following next month’s US Open.
Last year at Brookline, the 19-year-old became the first Englishman since 1911 to win the US Amateur title.
He is also an Open Championship silver medallist.
Fitzpatrick hopes to play in Europe on invites for the rest of the season after joining International Sports Management.
“I chose ISM because I was impressed with how much they wanted to manage me,” he said. “I had options, but eventually it came down to ISM. They have a proven track record of guiding the careers of young golfers and moulding major champions. I am in good hands.”
ISM chief executive Andrew Chandler added: “In Garrick Porteous and Matthew we are immensely proud to have the current Amateur and US Amateur champions on our books.
“Matthew has enjoyed a whirlwind 12 months and the way he has conducted himself, both on and off the course, has been mightily impressive. He has the talent and temperament to achieve whatever he wants to in the game and we are delighted to have the opportunity to help him do just that.”
Fitzpatrick missed the cut at the Masters in April by a single shot and then finished tied for 23rd at the RBC Heritage the following week.
