Ryder Cup veteran Ross Fisher will ply his trade on the PGA Tour next year after securing his Tour card.
Fisher needed to qualify within the top 25 (including ties) at the Q-School event in La Quinta to win his card and made quite sure of his position by securing a joint-second finish.
“This game can go high and it can go low,” Fisher told the official PGA Tour we
“Last year for me was not great. This year has been a work in progress. But it was the last year of Q-school, and it was nice to create a bit of history to be one of the guys at the last one.”
The Englishman was joined by Steve LeBrun and Kris Blanks on 24-under, with tournament winner Dong-hwan Lee a shot ahead.
Robert Karlsson, another former Ryder Cup player, also made the cut.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for some of the bigger names in the field, with Camilo Villegas – once considered one of the Tour’s brightest prospects – failing to keep his card, a fate suffered by among others Arjun Atwal, Heath Slocum and Derek Lamely – all of whom have won titles as recently as 2010.
