Donaldson wins shot of the year

Welshman Jamie Donaldson’s wedge shot which clinched the Ryder Cup for Europe has been named the European Tour’s shot of the year.

Donaldson made sure the trophy would stay in European hands with his approach to the 15th in his match against Keegan Bradley.

“I said at the time I’d just hit the shot of my life, given the circumstances,” Donaldson said.

“I’ll never get tired of talking about it. It was such an amazing moment.”

The award was voted for by the public, with Donaldson receiving 32% of the vote.

South African Charl Schwartzel was second with a recovery shot, and France’s Victor Dubuisson – another Ryder Cup player – was third with his escape from a cactus.
