Donaldson leads by two in Malmo

Jamie Donaldson fired a second consecutive 69 to take a two-shot lead heading into the weekend at the Nordea Masters.

The Welshman has four previous top tens at the event, and found some much needed form, having only made three cuts in eight tournaments so far this year.

Donaldson's eight-under-par total was good enough for a two-shot lead over Renato Paratore, the young Italian who held the lead after Thursday's opening round.

Paratore kept himself in the hunt with a one-under-par 72, and leads a trio of players tied for third on five under – English duo Graeme Storm and Max Orrin and Frenchman Benjamin Hebert.

A shot further back are Thorbjorn Olesen, Chris Wood and Austin Connelly, while the likes of Bradley Dredge, Tom Lewis, Juenghun Wang and Scott Hend find themselves in a logjam on three under.

The day belonged to Donaldson, however, who mixed five birdies with one bogey on the challenging Barsebäck course.

"I played nicely," he said. "There were times when the ball wasn't where I wanted it to be, but I made some great escapes.

"The chipping and putting has been better over the last couple of days. I have been playing quite nicely recently but just not quite putting it all together but the first couple of days here, I've been able to do that.

"More of the same for the weekend, really. I've got my map of the golf course and how to play it. I don't know what the weather is going to do tomorrow, it might be windy, it might not, so we'll wake up and take it from there."
