Del Moral wins in Catalunya

Carlos Del Moral stormed to a five-shot victory at the European Tour’s arduous six-round Qualifying School at PGA Catalunya Resort.
The Spaniard gratefully accepted one of the 27 European Tour cards handed out for next season after finishing with a 26 under par total. It was the fourth time he’s been through Q-School in the last six years.
Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti was second on 21 under par, while Italian Marco Crespi sat a further six shots back in third place and Frenchman Gary Stal finished fourth on 14 under.
John Hahn led a group of three players a further shot back and is one of four Americans to earn their place on Tour this week.
Englishman James Morrison, winner of the 2011 Madeira Island Open, was amongst those who finished on 12 under, one shot clear of Swede Patrik Sjoland.
The cut fell at nine under, with Scotland’s Alastair Forsyth and England’s Adam Gee just squeezing inside the mark despite finishing with two over par 74s.
South Africa’s Tjaart van der Walt, Norwegian Espen Kofstad and Frenchman Edouard Espana were the men to finish a single shot under the line with Espana left to rue a 74.
Former Ryder Cup player Oliver Wilson missed out by two shots for the second consecutive year with 2011 Czech Open champion Oliver Fisher and two-time Tour winner Bradley Dredge also failing to make the grade.
