Brooks Koepka explains ‘cheeky’ thong moment on Instagram
Brooks Koepka says a photograph of himself in a thong that was shared on social media recently was all in good fun.
The picture of the World No 2 golfer and girlfriend Jena Sims showing off at a beach in the Maldives where they were enjoying a romantic getaway garnered quite a lot of attention.
It may sound innocent enough – until you take into account what they were wearing:
“We’re always goofing off and having a good time on holiday,” Koepka said when asked about the post at a press conference ahead of this week’s Saudi International.
“I forgot who brought him, they brought one for me and one for my caddie and just goofing off, just laughing.
“I was trying to pretend like I was some Instagram model, you know, standing on my pointy toes because that’s how the girls make their butts look good. I just didn’t know you can’t flex.”
Koepka said he hoped people got a good laugh out of the picture, as that’s all it was for.
“I saw a picture, I forget of who it was, a cartoon character wearing one and it was pretty funny. Got a good laugh out of it. It’s all in fun. I enjoyed it. It made everybody laugh and I’m sure it made quite a few people that saw the picture laugh, so that’s all it was for.”
Thankfully, his girlfriend Jena shared another snapshot of the occasion that may have been more to the tastes of Koepka’s largely male social media following:
