Keegan Bradley began the defence of his USPGA Championship crown with a solid 68, adding to an already special day.

The 26-year-old claimed his maiden major victory at the Atlanta Athletic Club at last year’s edition of the tournament, a win which was only his second career title.

Bradley heads into the tournament on the back of victory at the Bridgestone Invitational last week and he began strongly at Kiawah Island.

However, it the buzz of being called a champion and playing with Tiger Woods that excited him more than the the fact that he’s just two shots off the pace.

“I get announced as the PGA champion, and it gives me chills,” he admitted.

“The whole day was really fun and I love playing with Tiger. I felt very good, and any time I get to play with Tiger, I really enjoy it.

“It was great, a little surprising almost. The shot I hit on two, the 11th hole, was pretty good. And that was big to help calm me down maybe a little bit and focus.”
