Bohn leads before the rain

Jason Bohn’s 64 put him at the top of the True South Classic before thunderstorms brought an early end to play.
The American’s score saw him take the early lead before thunderstorms ensured that a large portion of the field did not complete their rounds.
Bohn did not blot his copybook once on Thursday, notching up three birdies on the front nine and a further five on the closing nine.
Luke Guthrie is one shot back as he continues his great start to life as a professional. Playing in just his third tournament – and coming off the back of a tied fifth place at last week’s John Deere Classic – Guthrie’s 65 put him one back from Bohn.
JJ Killeen, Steve Lowery, Ryuji Imada, Jason Gore and Willie Wood all managed to card rounds of six-under-par to leave them two behind the leader.
With areas of standing water on the Annandale Golf Club’s fairways, players were allowed to lift, clean and place balls in the fairway, which helped with the low scoring.
“There was very little roll (in the fairways), but that makes the fairways wider,” explained Bohn.
“You can play more aggressively off the tee — use drivers where you might use a 3-wood.”
The 39-year-old admitted that the weather conditions had made play difficult, but had no complaints about the course.
“The one difficult thing we don’t really play too much in the humidity,” he explained. “The warm weather certainly presented itself today. It’s tough to keep your hands dry.
“There’s no wind, and the greens are very receptive,” he added.
“The greens are perfect. They’re some of the best greens we play on the PGA Tour. … You’ve kind of got to take advantage of it.”
