Bjorn, Sterne to miss US Open

Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn and South African Richard Sterne have both confirmed their withdrawals from the US Open next week due to injury.

Bjorn have been struggling with injuries to his neck and shoulder, while Sterne’s injury is undisclosed.

World number two Tiger Woods has already announced that he won’t be playing at Pinehurst next week as he continues his recovery from back surgery.

In the draw for the season’s second major, American Scott Langley will replace Sterne after finishing sectional qualifying in Memphis as the first alternate.

Andrew Dorn, the first alternate from sectional qualifying in Springfield, has been handed the berth in place of Bjorn.
