Nelly Korda clinches maiden LPGA title in Taiwan

LPGA Tour

American Nelly Korda scored a 4-under-par 68 to win the Taiwan Championship by two strokes for her first LPGA Tour title on Sunday.

Korda, who scored an eagle on the par 5 sixth hole and two birdies on the fourth and tenth, finished with 13 under 275 total – two strokes ahead of Minjee Lee, who shot a 6 under 66.

“Truthfully, I cannot put it into words,” Korda said. “It still hasn’t hit. It’s definitely one of the best days of my entire life. I can finally check that off of my list, winning an LPGA event, something that I dreamed of ever since I started playing.”

Next at 10 under, was Australian Ryann O’Toole (67), while tied for fourth was Spain’s Carlota Ciganda (69) and American Megan Khang (71).

Third round co-leader and local favourite Wei-Ling Hsu, scored five bogeys in her round of 74 to finish in sixth place along with Lydia Ko (72) of New Zealand.
