Sweden’s Linda Wessberg led by two strokes as the first day’s play at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open was ended early by storms.
The 29-year-old from Gothenburg took advantage of good early conditions to birdie four of the last five holes and finish on four under par.
But the skies then darkened and lightning was detected nearby, forcing an early finish with some players having barely begun their rounds.
England’s Laura Davies is her nearest challenger after completing her round in a two-under-par total of 70 – although it could have been even better had she not missed a three-foot putt for eagle on the 18th.
Denmark’s KM Juul and Anja Monke of Germany are level with Davies at two under, having played just six and three holes respectively.
England’s Melissa Reid and Wales’ Breanne Loucks join the only home player in the field, Zuzana Kamasova, in a group of seven players at one under. The septet also includes Spaniards Emma Cabrera-Bello and Marta Prieto, another Gothenburg resident in Helen Alfredsson and France’s Jade Schaeffer after all four completed rounds of 71.
The second round is scheduled to commence at 10.30am on Friday subject to the weather, with the last tee time at 4.30pm as the tournament organisers aim to get back on schedule.
