Wahlin retains lead in Portugal

Sweden’s Lotta Wahlin maintained a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the Portugal Ladies Open on Saturday.
Sweden’s Lotta Wahlin maintained a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the Portugal Ladies Open on Saturday.
Wahlin added a 73 to her opening 68 to finish on three under par at Golden Eagle Golf near Lisbon.
Italian Stefania Croce carded a 71 to lie second on two under while defending champion Anne-Lise Caudal from France kept her hopes alive, finishing two shots off the pace in a four-way share of third with Christel Boeljon, Spain’s Tania Elosegui and Iben Tinning.
Wahlin, who won in Turkey and Wales last year, wants to make amends for a poor start to 2009 on the Ladies European Tour.
Since February, her best individual finish has been equal 46th at the Ladies German Open.
“My goal for the season was to get into The Solheim Cup and it’s still possible, but it’s not my main goal right now,” said the 25-year-old.
“I just want to have fun and, of course, win here. I’m feeling positive and I’ve got a good feeling.”
Denmark’s Mianne Bagger scored a hole-in-one at the par-three 16th, her first in an official LET tournament, but still missed the cut which fell at five over par.
All the second round scores & totals in The Ladies European Tour Ladies Open de Portugal, Golden Eagle Golf Club, Rio Maior, Portugal.
