Sweden’s Lotta Wahlin holds a one-shot lead after the first round of the Ladies Open of Portugal in Rio Maior.
Wahlin fired a four-under-par 68 at the Golden Eagle Golf Club to finish ahead of a quartet of players on three under, with another four a shot further back.
She shot six birdies and two bogies to leave her a shot clear of France’s Caroline Afonso, Spain’s Carmen Alonso, Iben Tinning of Denmark and Wales’ Becky Brewerton.
Brewerton had looked on course to finish the opening round at the top of the leaderboard, but her hopes were dealt a blow by two dropped shots in her last three holes.
Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord, France’s Anne-Lise Caudal, Austria’s Nicole Gergely and Beth Allen of the USA are all on two under.
