Veteran Yokata edges Ishikawa
Shinichi Yokata has edged out teen sensation Ryo Ishikawa to win the Canon Open by two shots in Yokohama.
Shinichi Yokata’s final round of 67 saw the 38-year-old edge out Ryo Ishikawa to win the Canon Open by two shots at Totsuka CC in Yokohama.
Yokata collected an eagle, four birdies and a bogey to pull clear of fellow overnight co-leaders Ishikawa and Hideto Tanihara and finish on 14 under par to take the title.
Ishikawa made a late charge with five birdies in the final six holes but his three-under 69 was not enough to overhaul Yokata and the 19-year-old had to settle for second place.
Takashi Kanemoto and Kazuhiko Hosokawa finished tied for third on 11-under after both carded impressive 66s but Tanihara could manage joint-21st after a final round of 76 put paid to his chances.
