This after Laird became the first Scot ever to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida, while picking up the second leg of the double.
Despite a scatchy final round of 75 on a difficult course, Laird managed to edge out American Steve Marino by a shot and Englishman Justin Rose by two.
Earlier on Sunday Paul Lawrie had setup the first leg of of Scotland’s first ever double of wins on both the US PGA and European Tours on the same day with his one-shot victory over Jonan Edfors at the Open de Andalucia in Malaga, Spain.
The 1999 Open Champion’s first victory in nine years sent the Scot rocketing 122 places to 150th in the World Rankings.
